Red Warrick, of Tyler, TX, calls a traditional southern Appalachian square dance figure. Videotaped by Otto Warteman and uploaded with permission.
It was recorded at the Fort Bend County Convention Center, during the annual Houston Hoedown in 1994.
This clip is of a common routine used in both traditional and MWSD during the 1950's. A search for "Grapevine Twist" in this project's digital collection will return at least four other video clips showing that figure, including Elizabeth Burchenal's silent footage from the 1930s.
